Studies in the Linguistic Sciences: Illinois Working Papers is the new format of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign Department of Linguistics Working Papers, which has been published since 1971. In 2008, the Linguistics department faculty and the Linguistics Student Organization agreed on a new online, open-access format for publication.
Studies in the Linguistic Sciences is intended as a forum for the presentation of original research by the students and faculty of the Department of Linguistics at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, as well as linguists from all disciplines at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. As a collection of working papers, SLS provides an outlet for online, open-access distribution of pre-publication versions of articles.
SLS accepts submissions of original research articles from the students and faculty of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and outside authors by invitation. No open call for papers is issued. SLS may publish the proceedings of conferences and workshops in linguistics held at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Copyright will remain with the author under a Creative Commons licensing scheme.
