Submissions

SLS has now entered its third year as an online, open-access departmental working papers (and its 40th anniversary of publication as SLS), and I join the editorial board, the Linguistics Department faculty, and the Linguistics Student Organization in inviting submissions to the 2011 volume. Please note that at the current time, we are only inviting submissions from faculty and students of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Submissions will be published as they complete an internal refereeing process, and each volume will be closed at the end of the calendar year. Major advantages of the new Working Papers format include universal, free, online access to your work and the ability to include electronic content in any format as an appendix to your article. Please consult the SLS stylesheet and example below.

Editorial Policy

SLS accepts submissions of original research articles from the students and faculty of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and outside authors by invitation. No open call for papers for outside authors is issued. SLS may occasionally publish the proceedings of conferences and workshops in linguistics held at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Article submissions are typically reviewed by one anonymous faculty reviewer and one anonymous student reviewer. Articles submitted to a conference proceedings issue may be reviewed by only one anonymous reviewer. Copyright will remain with the author under a Creative Commons licensing scheme, and we do not restrict authors from later republishing elsewhere.

Stylesheet

Please consult the latest revision of our Stylesheet and Example Document (PDF) for formatting guidelines:

Submitting

To submit your article, please send it as an e-mail attachment to SLSillinois [at] gmail [dot] com in Microsoft Word or PDF format. You should be notified of receipt within a few days.

Please note that only two types of submissions are accepted: 1) submissions from all UIUC affiliated researchers (faculty and students), and 2) papers from outside researchers by specific invitation such as for the proceedings volume for a conference held here on the UIUC campus. All other external submissions will be rejected without exception.
